The beginning of something new is always a unique life experience. This absolutely strikes home when it comes to pregnancy. Every new mother is curious to know about the process. That’s why we prepared a series about the weeks of pregnancy.

After the previous periods, let’s read about last weeks of your pregnancy.

Week 37

The uterus becomes very tight for a baby because he has around 35 cm and almost 3 kilograms. The baby is only two weeks from being full term. All his organs are prepared for the outside world!

You can feel the contractions in your womb, but don’t worry, it’s just small training for the future birth. You can feel very tired. Pressure on the bladder is higher than ever meaning you have to go very often – sometimes every hour.

Week 38

Your baby is perfectly prepared for birth. The growth of his organs, arms, legs and the rest of the body – all finished. You can expect the birth any day now.

Some women can be very sad. That’s why pregnancy – especially its end – is physically and mentally exhaustive. If this is your case, hold your head up and pack your last things to the hospital.

Week 39

You could start giving birth any minute. Be ready and have all the things to the hospital prepared in your luggage. Your baby is around 36 centimeters (from head to bottom) and 3,25 kilograms.

Do you know what could help you in the next days during the waiting for your baby? Write a list of your expectation and ideas about the birth and discuss it with your doctor.

If you think you are going to labor, monitor and measure your contractions – time the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of another and time the contraction from start to finish to see how far along you are.

Week 40

Your due date is here! But don’t worry if nothing happens, only 5 % of mothers deliver on time. Good luck to you and your baby!
